I’ve actually had this conversation with my three closest friends before. What if you’re all bat-shit?

Things that are going on in my life right now:
- I am trying really hard not to stress out, but shit is kind of chaotic right now.
- My foot is actually broken.
- I can’t get into see an ortho until next month.
- I also can’t run, or walk/stand for long periods of time. Awesome.
- Moving day is Tuesday!
- Packing sucks.
- I am officially broke.
- I started a new job last week. And I’ll start another one this week. Yay for having four jobs again! (I do not believe in days off, obviously).
- Laundry, laundry, laundry.
- Tommy and I had this amazing peanut brittle bacon ice cream at the Blind Pig last night, after our delicious bacon filled dinner.
Josh Ritter - To the Dogs or Whoever live in Louisville, KY 5/17/10
We went to see him and it was probably the most beautiful live performance I’ve ever seen. I am not really an emotional person, in fact, I can usually accurately call myself stoic. But that man, and those songs.
Sorry for the shitty iphone video, Tommy’s flight got cancelled from Amsterdam because of the volcanic ash so he missed the concert. I was trying to give him something that made him feel like he was there, and my phone wouldn’t let me dial out to call him… this was the next best thing.
Recap of the weekend:
This past weekend was out of control, and involved the consumption of lots of calories (both in alcoholic and non-alcoholic form).
- Friday was Oaks (the filly race before the Kentucky Derby). I woke up at 5 am to drive to my parent’s house to see my cousin, his wife, and his friends. They had just arrived from Toronto, Canada for the Derby. Then we ate a massive southern style breakfast and Kitty had her puppies! Afterwards, I went to work but because it was beautiful out and we were pretty slow, I decided to leave for a bit. I went to meet the Canadians on Bardstown Rd for some shopping and coffee. Then it was back to work, where the crowd was piling in after spending their day at the races. I left sometime late that night, and pretty much went straight to bed. I needed my rest to prepare for the all day drinking extravaganza that was Saturday.
- Saturday I woke up around 8ish, and drove back over to my parent’s house. We had bagels, coffee, and mimosas for breakfast. It was chilly and rainy out, so in one of the saddest moments of my life I opted to wear jeans; an oxford; and a poncho, rather than a pretty dress; heels; and a flower in my hair. Then we took shots of bourbon (in celebration of Kentucky), and made our way to the Kentucky Derby sometime before noon. The Derby was pretty much a bust this year, with all the rain and the mud, my pressure induced migraine, and the shitty cellphone service that caused Tommy to get there only to leave right after when my phone decided to go straight to voicemail instead of ringing through. But it was okay because there was betting; mint juleps; lilys; bourbon; turkey legs; and beer. I decided to embrace the fact that I was in Kentucky and walk around barefoot in the mud. After we left, the Canadians wanted to order Papa John’s (for their garlic butter, apparently you can’t get that anywhere where they live) so we did that, and then went out to the bars. Derby weekend is absolutely the biggest weekend for bars here in Louisville, so they all stay open until 6am Friday and Saturday. I put on my pretty dress and heels that I had planned to wear to the races and went out and had an amazing time. Around 5:30am we left the bars, stopped at White Castle for some drunken calorie consumption (they’d never been to a White Castle and wanted to try it), and went home to bed.
- On Sunday I woke up on my parent’s couch with a terrible hangover headache. I put on another pretty dress (the one that was my backup for the Derby) and we piled in the car to go to Lynn’s Paradise Cafe for breakfast. We got a flat tire on the way, but eventually made it there where Tommy and Mackendo met up with us. It started raining again, and my hangover headache quickly became another pressure based migraine, so I went home to sleep it off. When I woke up, it was still raining but the Canadians wanted me to take them to “see Louisville”, so we walked around downtown, saw the bat, and visited 21C. Later that night, we had a family cookout where more beer was consumed, and the went to see The Losers.
The Canadians left today after breakfast, and I’ve pretty much been recuperating from the weekend since. Pictures to come, but I normally use my phone to take pictures and it was dead most all of the weekend (which was kind of awesome), so there aren’t a lot.
