We’re supposed to be on a diet.

McGee sent this in a message that said “check out the party monsters at :15”. That’s McGee (dinosaur), Maria (mermaid), me (angel) and Colleen (queen of hearts) dancing in the bottom left corner!

This past weekend was one of the most fun, memorable, and exhausting ones I’ve had in a while. Saturday afternoon was spent getting lost in Indiana, filling up flat tires, running errands, exploring the coolest party store ever, throwing things in bags, driving to Lexington, spray painting shoes, pinning streamers in hair, and applying false eyelashes. Saturday night was spent riding the school bus, dancing my ass off, exploring my brain, smiling, playing with light toys, running from the police that weren’t chasing us, and climbing jungle gyms.
This picture is from Sunday afternoon. Maria and I passed out on the sidewalk for most of the day.

I’ve actually had this conversation with my three closest friends before. What if you’re all bat-shit?

30 Day Photo Challenge
3. a photo that makes you happy
This photo makes me all kinds of happy. Tim and I have been friends for few years, but this photo was taken on the night that we met for the first time. If I remember correctly, this was during my first semester of college, so the fall of 2007. I had heard Tim’s music a few months before this, and was incredibly impressed by him. So when he made his first (and to this day, only) musical appearance in my city, I was obviously there with bells on.
After the show, Maria and I decided to go talk to him for a bit. Our conversation started with his performance, then moved to the performance of My Brightest Diamond who opened for him (or maybe it was the other way around), then to some of the awesome drawings he had for sale, then to cool shoes, then to the Burlington Coat Factory, and then finally to riding bikes. At this point in my life, I did not know how to ride a bike (it’s a very tragic story that involves a brand new Spice Girls bike, and a popped tire). Tim was shocked by this revelation, but explained to me that I was in luck because he had a bike with him!!
For the next few hours, we rode around the parking lot of the venue while Tim taught me how to ride a bike, and three of us formed a friendship. I remember being high from that night for a few days, and it is still one of very favorite memories.

Things I Need to Do ASAP:

  1. Clean my fucking disgusting bedroom. It’s not really dirty, but there are so many clothes that do not have a home other than my floor.
  2. Make it to Lexington. I miss Maria ridiculous amounts.
  3. Get my haircut.  A certain boy told me that my hair takes up half of the bed, it is so long that it’s getting out of control. :(
  4. Take a nap. I am exhausted.
  5. Tweeze my eyebrows.
  6. Go to the bank. I have accumulated probably five or six paychecks I still need to deposit. That’s easy to do when you have multiple jobs, but still.

19 years old, sunglasses on inside, shit-faced at a place who’s known for having “burritos as big as your head”. Classy.

Maria moved to Lexington this past Saturday. It was also her 23rd birthday!

I was supposed to have to work all day/night, but someone made a scheduling mistake, and there were too many people there. So… I got to leave at 2:30 in the afternoon! I drove to Lexington, where I met up with Maria and Burch and we decided to go to Bowling Green for the Starry Nights festival. It was cold and rainy out, so we bundled up in our matching lumberjack outfits (I really wish I had a picture of this) and drove the 2 and a half hours to BG.

The festival was in the middle of some huge field, and the stars were seriously the most amazing thing I think I’ve ever seen. We kept talking about how we felt like we were in a bio-dome. It was cold as shit, but there were lots of good people there; good drugs; and good music, so it didn’t really matter. We saw Keller and the Keels, Moon Taxi (how cool are those suits?!), and a bunch of other bands I can’t actually remember. We bought a bunch of light toys, and Maria decided that we were “raving lumberjacks”. The rest of the night sort of looked like those last two pictures.

We were a little sad that we couldn’t stay and camp, but I had to be at work Sunday morning. So we made the trek from Bowling Green back to Lexington, and then I made the 1 and a half drive back to Louisville. Driving while candy flipping was a new experience for me, and the only word I know to describe it was intense. Somehow I managed to make it back all in one piece, and still make it to work in time. I love being young.

March 30th, 2010
This was really the first day that I realized spring had arrived this year. Maria and I went on a long walk around Germantown and the Highlands and I made her stop every 5 seconds so that I could take a picture of something beautiful and spring-like.
